Manda Mosher/ City Of Clowns Track Listing: Manda Mosher is a sixth generation Los Angeleno, a true California girl who grew up on the sounds of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. Her debut album Everything You Need (Red Parlor, 2009) received national critical acclaim, and airplay on over 70 radio stations across the US, including KCRW, WDST, KVNF, XM -The Loft and Acoustic Café. She has been an ASCAP Featured Artist and performed as a musical guest on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. "Beautiful, compelling melodies with poignant lyrics sung with a sensual, sultry authority...This is good, this is now." – Paul Zollo, American Songwriter Magazine "Manda is poised to become a leading light of modern singer-songwriters, someone able to encapsulate the emotional terrain of life and romance with a soul much wiser than her young years." - Bill Bentley, Sonic Boomers. Then, in December 2009, Manda had the opportunity to come to New York, meet some new musicians and try out some killer new songs. The result – her new EP, City of Clowns. With three kick-ass new songs, City of Clowns shows Mosher's rougher, rock-roots. There's the provocative hit-single "City of Clowns" and a stunningly edgy cover of Bruce Springsteen's "State Trooper," plus an all-new gritty mix of the critically acclaimed "Lay Me Down." The EP includes a special, three-minute behind the scenes look at these recording sessions. Delta Moon / Hellbound Train The band features two remarkable guitarists, Mark Johnson and Tom Gray. In 2008, The American Roots Music Association named whiskey-voiced Tom Gray 2008 Blues Songwriter of the Year. His songs have been recorded by Cyndi Lauper (including the hit "Money Changes Everything"), Manfred Mann, Carlene Carter, Bonnie Bramlett and many others. Tom was born in Washington D.C. and grew up in Virginia and Georgia, but home was always the family farm in the North Carolina mountains. In the 1980s he led a rock group, The Brains, that recorded two albums on Mercury Records. Originally a keyboard player, Tom picked up his first lap steel guitar in the late 1980s and hasn't really put it down yet. "Gray and Johnson's double-slide style works to perfection."- Chicago Sun-Times "Don't let anybody tell you the blues is supposed to get you down. And damn sure don't tell Delta Moon. They know the blues is there to lift you up."- An Honest Tune Matt Keating / Between Customers BETWEEN CUSTOMERS is a mostly acoustic affair. The songs are subdued and subtle. Keating's characteristic everyman twang juxtaposed against his quirky urban phrasing and lyrical subject matter, make one think of a combination of Willie Nelson and Lou Reed. To quote No Depression "...Keating's songs are elegant in structure, and are packed with wordplay that can amuse, dazzle, or hit way to close to home" Mostly recorded with his longtime bass player and co-producer Jason Mercer (Ron Sexsmith, Ani DiFranco) in various hotel rooms across America as they toured in support of his most recent double album, QUIXOTIC (Kealon 2008), BETWEEN CUSTOMERS has the feel of a road-trip with a good friend. Intimate stories abound. "Beautiful and honest songs of substance and melancholy" - TimeOut London "Matt Keating writes the kind of effortless, eloquent songs Elvis Costello doesn't write anymore" - The London Times |
